CellSearchTM - Circulating Tumor Cell Test

Effective Serial Monitoring

CellSearch provides effective serial monitoring of patients with metastatic breast cancer (MBC), colorectal cancer (MCRC) and prostate cancer (MPC) throughout the continuum of care.  Serial testing of CTCs used in conjunction with a physical examination, complete medical history and other clinical methods such as imaging provides the most accurate assessment of disease status.

  • CellSearch predicts prognosis at any time during therapy
  • Changes in the CTC counts are observable as early as the first cycle of treatment
  • CTC counts can help physicians evaluate patient prognosis earlier

Strong, Independent Predictor of Survival

Based on 50 months of clinical follow-up for MBC and 30 months for MCRC and MPC, circulating tumor cells are proven predictors of overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS). Using a predetermined CTC cutoff number*, CellSearch provides real-time information concerning OS and PFS.

  • A reduction in CTC below cutoff* after initiation of therapy predicts longer OS.
  • An increase in CTC count to cutoff* or above predicts a shorter OS.
  • Changes in CTC predicts significant changes in PFS.

*MBC and MPC = 5 CTC; MCRC = 3 CTC
