To determine if abnormal chromosomes affecting fertility, we perform chromosome analysis, also called karyotype, on peripheral blood. Chromosome analysis studies the number, order and shape of chromosomes to detect common anormalities such as:
- extra chromosomes
- missing chromosomes
- deletions or additions to data within each chromosome
- translocations of chromosomes (all chromosomes are present but rearranged)
