MPLN/Geneuity contributes to FDA approval of the Panther(TM) System

MPLN, through it's Geneuity Clinical Research Services Division, participated in the instrument performance evaluations that contributed to the FDA approval of the Panther(TM) system for use with the APTIMA 2 Combo assay, particularly testing for the common sexually transmitted infections Chlamydia trachomatis andNeisseria gonorrhoeae. "It is a credit to the scores of talented and dedicated scientists and engineers who made it happen.  We believe that PANTHER will continue that revolution by bringing the power of fully-automated, sample to result capabilities to low- and medium- volume labs.," said Carl Hull, Gene-Probe's chairman and chief executive officer.

2012 Relay for LifeThe 2012 MPLN Relay for Life team had an outstanding year!  Thanks to the generosity of MPLN employees, family, and friends, as well as on-site fundraising at the Blount County Relay for Life, our team of 12 was able to raise $2098.54 for the American Cancer Society.  The mission of MPLN – our dedication to “make a difference in patient care by delivering the best technologies and services in laboratory medicine” – goes hand-in-hand with the mission of the American Cancer Society to “prevent cancer, save lives, and diminish suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service.”  We look forward to participating in future Relay for Life events and further supporting the American Cancer Society! - Katy Large, 2012 team captain
 
Dr. Nicholas Potter appointed to the medical advisory board of Epigenomics AG

Dr. Nicholas T. Potter has been appointed to the Medical Advisory Board of Epigenomics AG, a molecular diagnostics company developing and commercializing tests for the screening and diagnosis of cancer.  Their lead product Epi proColon 2.0, a blood-based test for the early detection of colorectal cancer (CRC) which is currently marketed in Europe and in development in the US, was recently used  to support a pivotal clinical trial for CRC detection and will be submitted to the FDA for approval later this year.  He is currently the Chief Scientific Officer and Director of Molecular Diagnostics at Molecular Pathology Laboratory Network, Inc., in Maryville TN.

In 2011, an estimated 230,480 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed among women in the United States, and an estimated 57,650 cases of in situ breast cancer will be detected.

Indigo provides on-line status for ordered tests

A pending list is now available on Indigo to allow you to check the status of a test.  By clicking “Pending List” in the blue header field you are able to search by accessioning number, patient’s first name, patient’s last name, or test.  The pending list can be sorted  in alphabetical order much like the Reports/Manifest fields.  If you have questions, please call a client service specialist at 800-932-2943.
