Biomarkers and Targeted Drug Therapy
Tuesday, 09 March 2010 14:42

Companion Diagnostics uses molecular diagnostic tests to evaluate ‘biomarkers' associated with a specific drug. The drug may target a certain biomarker or a genetic mutation that may be associated with the patient's response to a specific drug. Whereas, pharmacogenetics associates drug interaction with a specific genotype and, thereby, impacts treatment outcomes.
