All packages containing diagnostic/clinical specimens must be prepared and shipped to MPLN in accordance with International Air Transport Association (IATA) Packing Instruction 650. Therefore, we provide an assortment of IATA compliant boxes and packing supplies to our clients at no charge.

Small Box
Contains 6.5” x 5” x 8” styrofoam box with gray inserts, 30mL absorbent pad, specimen/requisition bag, large zipper bag.
- Suitable for blood, bone marrow, paraffin blocks, fresh tissue, swabs, CSF, amniotic fluid, POCs
- Not suitable for frozen specimens, liquid cytology (ThinPrep® or SurePath™ vials)
Medium Box
Contains 11” x 6.5” x 2.75” cardboard box with 100mL absorbent pad, specimen/ requisition bag and large zipper bag. There is no thermal insulation.
- Suitable for Liquid Cytology media (ThinPrep or SurePath vials) and swabs
- Not suitable for blood, bone marrow, paraffin blocks, fresh tissue, frozen tissue, CSF, amniotic fluid, POCs
Large / Dry Ice Box
Contains 11” x 9” x 10” styrofoam box with rigid cardboard over-pack. Packages with dry ice require trained and certified personnel and are subject to inspection by federal and or private inspectors.
- Suitable for large numbers of all specimen types. Open space must be filled prior to shipping.
