Specimen Requirements
  • 200 uL whole blood product (not EDTA)
  • 200 uL platelet concentrate
Specimen Stability
  • Whole blood product stable at 2-8°C for 48 hours
  • Platelet concentrate stable at 18-25°C for 48 hours

  • Ship whole blood product with ice pack (Do not allow the ice pack to directly contact the sample)

    Specimens submitted at improper temperature; Not received within 48 hours of collection
    Reference Range
    A leukocyte reduced component is defined as one with < 5x10^6 residual leukocytes per final component. This includes RBC’s, platelets pheresis and pooled platelets. FDA recommends quality control to indicate with 95% confidence that more than 95% of blood units meet these criteria.
