    Description
This test measures the amount of protein that may be found in the blood of some individuals who have certain kinds of cancer. It is most often associated with colon or rectal cancers, but can be present for pancreas, breast, ovary or lung.

The test can be performed to determine how far the cancer has spread, to check the success of treatment and to see if the cancer cells have returned after treatment.
